Diaghilev at The Caixa Forum, Madrid

I missed the Diaghilev exhibition at The V&A last year but managed to catch it here in Madrid with the added bonus of having the place to myself.

Like all Costume students, we at Wimbledon in 1990 studied the Ballet Russes as part of our course. Seeing the costumes up close, their condition is good and the colours still as vibrant as I imagined. Textured as the drawings and photographs suggest but there's a surprising rough quality to them, due to being made for stage not screen.

There's a good page of information in English on the V&A website here and the exhibition is currently here.
