Since working together last summer on How I live Now, stills photographer Agatha Nitecka and I have become friends. We bonded with each other on the train journeys we shared going back and forth from Welsh locations and have been collaborating on a stills project throughout this year.
Agatha's photographs are beautiful and, unusually for film stills, they are often black and white. I find it interesting to see parts of the film through a different eye. Agatha's blog and website can be viewed here.

1971 Film Crew

I am researching 1971 for my current job and came across this fantastic on-set still from Get Carter.
Look at the crew! The camera department and the make-up or hair designer, all parkas and Belstaff, look pretty much the same today.
I particularly like the Continuity lady, or the Script Supervisor as she would be known these days. I immediately IMDB'd her: Doreen Dearnaley - Continuity. She has a string of credits from 1949 through to 1973 including Carry On Camping, Up the Junction and Quatermass and the Pit.
I hope she wore her red hat on all of them.

Top Boy Costume Sale

We finished Top Boy with a costume sale.
The idea was to have rails outside and an element of decorum about the proceedings but it threatened to rain and so we had a bun fight at lunchtime on the truck which was much more fun indeed.
It's hard to photograph but fifteen or more cast and crew members at a time, all trying on clothes and calling out offers was a bit mental, like a jumble sale really.
Bargains galore and a huge reduction in the amount of unloading we needed to do the next day, I'd call it a successful end of shoot.

In tandem with my workwear project I thought I would publish the reference pictures I am taking during this shoot, if they all give me permission, I aim to log a full crew by wrap on June 6th.

First up is Heather Storr, our Script Supervisor.
