Maine Thread

Yum. Another Katy Hackney find.
There are some really lovely basics at Maine Thread.

Both images are from my current favourite daily peek - kleidersachen or 'clothesthings' blog.

The second photo is a strange one - I'm button-phobic (one of the top ten most common phobias before you laugh) but linen buttons and jeans buttons have never really given me the urge to gag or wash my hands.
I have no idea why.

Tidying the Studio

I think I am going to stop saving things like these, I am just going to take them home and use them.

Tokyu Hands

The legendary Tokyu Hands: it's all true. The first visit was so intense I could only cope with it knowing that we would be back at least one more time before leaving Japan. I'm aware how shallow that sounds, but think; everything you like comes in as many colours as you can imagine. The stationery and craft departments are incredible.

NEEDLE AND THREAD

Thank You to Natalie Ward, close friend and fellow Costume Designer, who gave me this needle-case to photograph. We think it's early 1930's. It unscrews to reveal a bobbin and thimble, then one more step and there's the needle holder.

STARS AND A STRIPE

The white stars I bought in Romania and have yet to find a use for, the red ones have been knocking around my table for ages, there are only a few of them but they are so pleasing to look at that I can't quite get around to packing them away in a box.

The label must have come out of a hat at some point, it is lovely and I will find a place to display it soon.

PIn Cushion

Katy Hackney gave me this walnut pin cushion, I've not used it properly yet, I just look at it...

These Victorian needles are great to sew with,
the steel is  strong and they remain straight and sharp.
